Viking
Viking brought the commercial-style range into home kitchens in 1987 and still centers its catalog on heavy cooking equipment, backed by matching refrigeration and ventilation.
What Viking makes
Viking is built around the range. Its cooking lineup covers gas, dual-fuel, and electric or induction ranges from 30 up to 60 inches, along with rangetops and cooktops for kitchens that separate the oven from the surface. The sealed burners carry the VariSimmer setting for low, steady heat, and the ovens use TruConvec convection for even roasting and baking. Around that core, Viking builds built-in and freestanding refrigeration, professional and undercounter units, ventilation hoods sized to the cooktop, dishwashers, and a full outdoor line of grills and cabinets for patio kitchens. Finishes range from stainless to a broad set of colors, so a suite can be matched across cooking, cold, and cleanup. The through-line is heavy construction adapted from restaurant equipment for a home setting.

What holds the heat
The engineering behind a Viking range is heavy-gauge construction paired with two burner-level features. VariSimmer gives every sealed surface burner a genuine low setting, so a delicate sauce can sit at a bare simmer on the same burner that seared a steak minutes earlier. In the oven, TruConvec is a pure convection system that circulates heat from a rear element and fan rather than relying only on the bake and broil elements, which spreads temperature evenly across multiple racks and reduces the hot-and-cool spots of a static oven. The porcelain and steel body carries and holds heat, and the components are sized for frequent, heavy cooking. Those choices are why the brand reads as commercial equipment scaled to a residential kitchen.
