A conventional round burner sends flame out in a ring, leaving hot and cool spots; the Star burner uses a star-shaped, multi-point flame that spreads heat across more of the pan base for more even cooking and less scorching at the edges. It also opens a wider control range, with an ExtraLow setting that cycles the flame down to a gentle simmer for melting and holding without scorching. On the induction side, the Freedom Induction cooktop reads the full glass surface as one cooking zone, so pans can be placed anywhere and moved without lining up on printed rings.
