Column refrigeration and how it differs from freestanding
A column refrigerator is a single-temperature unit built into the cabinetry: one tall column holds only fresh food, another holds only frozen. Because each column runs its own compressor and air path, you can place the refrigerator and freezer where the kitchen layout calls for them instead of accepting the fixed side-by-side or over-under shape of a freestanding box. Panel-ready fronts and integrated design
Panel-ready means the appliance ships without a finished front so it can accept a custom door panel that matches the surrounding cabinetry. Done well, the refrigeration disappears into the run and the kitchen reads as furniture rather than a wall of stainless. Temperature zones, compressors, and food preservation
Splitting refrigeration into separate columns is a preservation argument, not only a design one. A dedicated compressor per column keeps humid refrigerator air out of the dry freezer and vice versa, which slows freezer burn and holds produce longer. Many columns add sealed drawers with their own humidity control, and higher lines use dual evaporators or active air purification to steady temperature and reduce odor transfer.
